About Outgearly

What Outgearly is about

Outgearly exists to answer one question: what’s actually worth buying and using in outdoor gear? Not what’s newest, not what has the biggest marketing budget — what works, holds up, and earns its place in your kit or your home.

How we work

We’re practical people writing for practical people. Our recommendations come from hands-on use, careful research, and honest comparison — and when we haven’t used something ourselves, we say so plainly and tell you whose experience we’re drawing on instead.

We’d rather tell you the £40 option covers what most people need than push you toward the £200 one. When the expensive choice genuinely earns its price, we’ll explain exactly why — and who it’s for.

What you’ll find here

Guides, comparisons, and how-to articles across outdoor gear — written to be useful the day you read them, and kept honest by a simple rule: if we wouldn’t recommend it to a friend, it doesn’t get recommended here.

Support and transparency

Outgearly is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. This never affects what we recommend or how we rank products; our full policy is on our Affiliate Disclosure page, and how we choose what to cover is explained in our Editorial & Review Process.
