The short answer

Get the Striker Climate 3-in-1 Jacket if you want one jacket for every part of the ice season, the Norfin Element Plus FLT Suit if you want jacket and bibs in one order, and the Eskimo Women’s Scout Jacket for a light women’s float jacket at an entry-level price.

Our verdict

Top Picks: Ice Fishing Suits at a Glance

An ice fishing suit is a jacket and bibs built to be knelt in, sat in and, if the ice gives way, floated in. Many suits now carry built-in flotation, and the specs that separate them are few: what the maker says the flotation does (and whether it calls it a Coast Guard approved PFD), how much insulation is inside, the waterproof and breathability rating, and the sizes and cut, including women’s models.

We compared ten float suits and suit pieces that Amazon stocks, from Striker, Eskimo, Norfin, WindRider, Nordic Legend and Piscifun, using the makers’ own specs, published tests from Outdoor Life, SI.com and MeatEater, and owner reports from r/IceFishing. Three links open a complete suit; the rest open one piece (a jacket or bibs), and each review names the matching piece.

Every value comes from the maker (its site, or its own Amazon listing where the site gives no figure) unless the cell says otherwise; “not published” means the maker gives no figure. Waterproof and breathability numbers are the makers’ own, and none of them names the test standard. None of these makers publishes a garment weight for the size we link, so weights are left out.

Which Suit for Which Angler

Floating suits for early and late ice

Every pick here has built-in flotation, which matters when the ice is new or rotting. Two makers spell out that theirs is not a Coast Guard approved PFD (WindRider and Nordic Legend); the others make no Coast Guard claim on the pages we read. Striker says its Sureflote foam “can keep an average person afloat for up to 2 hours”, and WindRider adds a weight to its figure: enough, it says, for “a 300lb person on the surface for up to 2 hours”. Treat every float claim as the maker’s, and still carry ice picks and a throw rope. Our life jackets for surfing guide explains what Coast Guard approval means for a real PFD.

Picks: Striker Climate 3-in-1 Jacket, WindRider Ice Fishing Suit, Nordic Legend Aurora Floating Suit

Women’s ice fishing suits

Three picks are women’s-specific: Striker’s Stella jacket with princess seams and 133g PrimaLoft Silver, Eskimo’s women’s Scout jacket with 60g insulation in a bomber cut, and Norfin’s women’s Nordic FLT bibs with 170g Hollofil. Each has a matching women’s piece from the same maker: Striker’s Stella Bib, Eskimo’s Women’s Scout Pants and Norfin’s Women Nordic FLT Parka. In r/IceFishing threads on women’s suits, owners also name Striker’s Prism and Eskimo’s Keeper lines, and several mention bathroom access (drop seats, half-bib designs) as the deciding feature; check that on the matching bib or pants before you buy.

Picks: Striker Women’s Stella Jacket, Eskimo Women’s Scout Jacket, Norfin Women’s Nordic FLT Bibs

A float suit for the money

Two complete suits, jacket and bibs in one listing, sit at the mid-range tier: the Nordic Legend Aurora and the Norfin Element Plus FLT. The Piscifun float jacket is the entry-level ($) piece, with matching bibs sold separately. Owners in an r/IceFishing thread about Piscifun suits (model not stated) describe them as holding up for two seasons, with one reporting pocket stitching that ripped in the first year.

How We Chose These Suits

How this guide was built

built from manufacturer documentation, published third-party reviews and owner reports; we have not tested these products ourselves.

What a suit had to show

  • It is an ice fishing jacket, bib or full suit that its maker describes with built-in flotation, sold new and in stock on Amazon, and the linked size, colour and gender are named in the review.
  • The maker publishes its insulation (type, and grams where given) and a waterproof/breathable rating, or the review says “not published”.
  • Flotation is described in the maker’s own words, and we say whether the maker states Coast Guard approval. None of the makers here claims it.
  • Temperature guidance appears only where the maker prints one (Norfin), credited to the maker.
  • Women’s picks are women’s models, not men’s suits in small sizes.
Where the evidence comes from, where the sources disagree and suits we looked at but did not pick

Where the evidence comes from

SI.com’s review of the Striker Climate suit (January 2025) covers the current 3-in-1 jacket and bibs after a month on the ice. Outdoor Life’s ice fishing suit guide (updated October 2023) covered the Eskimo Roughneck and the men’s Eskimo Scout, both in earlier versions than the ones sold now. MeatEater’s ice fishing bib guide (April 2023) covers the Eskimo Superior Barrier Bibs, the bib half of an earlier Superior system. Owner reports come from r/IceFishing threads on women’s suits and Piscifun suits. The Norfin Element Plus FLT, the WindRider suit, the Nordic Legend suit and the Norfin women’s bibs rest on the makers’ specs: we found no independent test of those exact models.

Where the sources disagree

Norfin’s own site says the Element Plus FLT suit keeps you warm “down to -20°F”, while Norfin’s Amazon listing says “-30°F”. Piscifun’s Amazon title calls its jacket “Waterproof”, but its bullet says it is “water resistant due to DWR Coated Polyester and fully taped & sealed seams”. Striker’s Amazon title for the Stella calls it “Water-Resistant”, while Striker’s site lists “Hydrapore Waterproof 5,000mm”. We print both sides.

Suits we looked at but did not pick

Clam’s Ice Armor Rise, Ascent and Delta float parkas were offered on Amazon only in the largest sizes, or not at all, when we checked, and the women’s Rise float parka and bib had no offer. The StrikeMaster Surface jacket, an Outdoor Life pick, was offered only in two sizes, and every Striker Predator jacket was out of stock.

3-in-1 Float Jacket

Anglers who fish early, mid and late ice and want one float jacket they can layer up or strip down.

$429.99 from AmazonAs of Nov 4, 09:41 UTC

Verdict

A waterproof float shell with a zip-out PrimaLoft jacket, for anglers who fish from first ice to last and want one jacket for all of it.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. SI.com (On SI): Climate 3-in-1 jacket and bibs, Phase Terrain camo, size not stated.

Striker’s Climate Jacket page describes a 3-in-1 system: a Hydrapore shell rated 5,000 mm waterproof and 5,000 g breathable, with fully taped seams, and a removable Adapt jacket with 60g PrimaLoft Black insulation, each wearable on its own. The shell has “Perforated Sureflote flotation assist technology” fixed inside it, and Striker’s Amazon listing says Sureflote “can keep an average person afloat for up to 2 hours”; that is Striker’s claim, and Striker does not call it a Coast Guard approved PFD. Striker lists it at $429.99 for sizes S to 2XL.

In SI.com’s review, Joe Shead wore the Climate jacket and bibs for a month of ice fishing, “sometimes in sub-zero temperatures”, and wrote that it “really does an amazing job of cutting the wind”. His one complaint: the collar “won’t lie flat when you’ve got both jackets zipped together”. He tested a camo colour; the link is Black. Striker sizes it to fit over a base layer, a hoody and bibs, and its tall sizes add 2 inches to body and sleeve length. The matching Striker Climate Bib, with the same flotation assist, is sold separately.

Specs (linked: men’s Large, Regular, Black)

    Pros

    • Waterproof float shell plus a zip-out 60g PrimaLoft jacket you can wear on its own
    • SI.com’s tester found it blocked wind well over a month on the ice
    • Pit zips and tall sizes

    Cons

    • Premium price for a jacket, with the bibs sold separately
    • The tester found the collar would not lie flat with both layers zipped
    • 60g of liner insulation, so deep cold calls for a warm mid-layer underneath

    Who should buy it

Anglers who fish early, mid and late ice and want one float jacket they can layer up or strip down.

    Complete Float Suit

Anglers who want a complete float suit for cold outdoor days without shopping for a jacket and bibs separately.

$366.99 from AmazonAs of Nov 4, 09:41 UTC

    Verdict

Jacket and bibs in one listing, with 180g insulation and flotation assist, for anglers who want a complete float suit without matching pieces.

Evidence: No independent test; maker specs.

The Element+ FLT is sold on Amazon as a full suit, parka and bibs. Norfin’s product page lists 180g Thermoguard insulation plus FLT foam, a Nortex Breathable shell rated 6,000 mm waterproof and 4,000 g breathable, glued seams and “Quick-drain technology on parka hems & bib cuffs”. Norfin calls the FLT foam “built in flotation assist” and makes no Coast Guard claim. Norfin lists it at $366.99 for sizes S to 3XL.

Norfin’s warmth guidance differs between its own pages: the product page says “down to -20°F”, and Norfin’s Amazon listing says “-30°F”; neither names a method, so treat both as the maker’s guidance. The bibs have adjustable suspenders and long side zippers, and the parka has an adjustable, removable hood. We found no independent test of the Element+ FLT itself. It is sold by Norfin’s own Amazon storefront.

Specs (linked: XX-Large, Black, jacket and bibs)

      Pros

      • Complete float suit, jacket and bibs, with 180g insulation in one order
      • Quick-drain hems and cuffs, per Norfin
      • Maker publishes waterproof, breathability and warmth figures

      Cons

      • Norfin’s two warmth figures disagree and neither names a method
      • No independent test of this exact suit
      • Few sizes on Amazon at our check (Small, then XXL and up)

      Who should buy it

Anglers who want a complete float suit for cold outdoor days without shopping for a jacket and bibs separately.

Anglers who want a highly waterproof float jacket with a liner they can drop on mild days.

$303.02 from AmazonAs of Nov 4, 09:41 UTC

      Verdict

A 15k/15k waterproof float shell with a zip-out Thinsulate puffer, for anglers who face wet slush as often as deep cold.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, previous generation. MeatEater: Superior Barrier Bibs (2023).

Eskimo’s Superior Jacket page describes two jackets in one: a DuraDry stretch shell with “Uplyft Breathable Flotation assistance” and a 15k/15k waterproof/breathable rating, and a ripstop liner with 150gm of 3M Thinsulate Platinum insulation that can be worn alone. Eskimo calls the rating “3x greater than other standard ice fishing outerwear”, which is Eskimo’s own comparison. Eskimo makes no Coast Guard claim for Uplyft. Eskimo lists it at $399.99 for sizes M to 2XL.

Related guide: Best Braided Ice Fishing Line for Jigging and Tip-Ups

The independent coverage we found is of the bib half of an earlier Superior system: MeatEater’s crew wore the Superior Barrier Bibs and wrote that they “check all the boxes for a solid ice fishing setup”, with one tester praising the removable knee pads and the waterproof membrane. That was the 2023 version and the bibs, not this jacket; Eskimo presents the Superior suit as redesigned for 2024. The matching Superior Bibs are sold separately. This jacket is sold and shipped by Amazon.com.

Specs (linked: men’s Large, Forged Iron, model 43896)

        Pros

        • Waterproof/breathable rating of 15k/15k on a stretch float shell, per Eskimo
        • Liner with 150gm Thinsulate zips out and works as its own jacket
        • Packable, adjustable hood

        Cons

        • The independent praise covers the earlier Superior Barrier Bibs, not this jacket
        • Bibs sold separately
        • No size below Medium

$211.43 from AmazonAs of Nov 4, 09:41 UTC

        Verdict

Workwear-style float bibs with removable knee pads and Sherpa fleece, for anglers who kneel on hard ice all day.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, previous generation. Outdoor Life: Roughneck jacket and bib (2023 version).

Eskimo’s Roughneck Bibs page lists reinforced knees with removable foam knee pads, reinforced ankles, YKK zippers, Sherpa fleece insulation and DuraDry stretch fabric with DWR; Eskimo’s Amazon listing adds a 5k/5k waterproof/breathable rating with fully taped seams. Eskimo says its Uplyft Breathable Flotation “will keep you above water should the unthinkable happen”; that is Eskimo’s claim, not a guarantee, and Eskimo does not call it a Coast Guard approved PFD. Eskimo lists them at $229.99 for sizes S to 2XL.

Outdoor Life tested an earlier Roughneck jacket and bib in 2023; its tester in western North Dakota wore them “down to about 5 degrees” and said, “The Eskimo Roughneck suit is warm without the bulk and weight of a typical flotation suit.” He singled out the thick knee pads. The bibs sold now are Eskimo’s 2025 version, so treat that test as a guide to the line, not to this exact model. The link opens the bibs only; the Roughneck Jacket is sold separately. We link the 2XL because it was in stock from Amazon.com at or below Eskimo’s list price when we checked.

Specs (linked: men’s 2XL, Forged Iron, model 45976)

          Pros

          • Removable foam knee pads and reinforced knees and ankles for kneeling on ice
          • Stretch fabric that Eskimo says lets you kneel without bunching
          • Outdoor Life’s tester found the earlier Roughneck warm without the usual float-suit bulk

          Cons

          • Bibs only: the jacket is a separate purchase
          • Insulation grams are not published
          • The independent test covers the earlier version

Anglers who want a complete float suit with the maker's flotation figure and warranty in writing.

$499.00 from AmazonAs of Nov 4, 09:41 UTC

          Verdict

A complete float suit from a Minnesota direct seller, for anglers who want the flotation figure spelled out and a lifetime workmanship warranty.

Evidence: No independent test; maker specs.

WindRider’s product page says the jacket and the bibs each have “enough flotation to keep a 300lb person on the surface for up to 2 hours”, and its FAQ adds, “Depending on body mass the suit can hold up to a 300 lbs person up to 2 hours.” The same FAQ says plainly: “The ice fishing suit is not an approved coast guard replacement for a PFD.” Those are WindRider’s own figures, not tested by us or by an independent source we found. WindRider lists it at $499.

Both pieces carry a 5k waterproof / 5k breathability rating and 3M insulation, including in the removable hood; WindRider does not publish the insulation grams. The bibs have reinforced knees and seat, a double zipper for bathroom breaks, zippered crotch vents and an adjustable inseam. WindRider’s Amazon listing warns that “due to the flotation foam the bibs tend to be bulky”. It is sold on Amazon by WindRider’s own storefront; Amazon offered only the Small and 4XL when we checked, and the link is the Small.

Specs (linked: Small, Grey, jacket and bibs)

            Pros

            • Complete float suit with a stated buoyancy figure and a clear “not a PFD” statement from the maker
            • Double-zip bibs with crotch vents and an adjustable inseam
            • Lifetime workmanship warranty, per WindRider

            Cons

            • Premium tier, and the maker warns the bibs are bulky
            • Insulation grams not published
            • Few sizes on Amazon at our check; no independent test of this suit

$269.99 from AmazonAs of Nov 4, 09:41 UTC

            Verdict

A jacket-and-bib float suit at a mid-range price for both pieces together, for anglers who want flotation on a budget and can live with thin published specs.

Evidence: No independent test; maker specs.

Nordic Legend’s product page lists a PU-coated nylon Oxford shell, polyester tricot lining, taped seams, fleece-lined hand-warmer pockets, adjustable cuffs with an internal sleeve cuff, double zippers on jacket and bibs, and “Motion Float technology adds buoyancy (Not Coast Guard Approved PFD)”. It does not publish an insulation type or weight, or a waterproof rating. Nordic Legend’s list price for the suit was not published in what we could read: its page shows a price range across the jacket, bibs and suit options.

We found no independent test of this suit. On Amazon it is sold by THUNDERBAY PRODUCTS, a seller we could not confirm as the brand, and the same family also offers the suit bundled with a floating throw bag; we link the suit alone.

Specs (linked: XX-Large, Orange, jacket and bibs)

              Pros

              • Jacket and bibs with flotation in one listing at a mid-range tier
              • Double zippers on both pieces for venting and bathroom breaks
              • The maker states plainly that it is not a Coast Guard approved PFD

$154.99 from AmazonAs of Nov 4, 09:41 UTC

              Verdict

A float jacket at the entry-level tier, with a whistle and drain-mesh hem, for anglers starting out on the ice.

Evidence: No independent test; owner reports. r/IceFishing: Piscifun float suit, model not stated.

Piscifun’s own Amazon listing (its float jacket is not on the maker’s site at our check) describes “Piscifun Professional Flotation Technology” that “allows an adult to stay afloat in the event you would accidentally fall through the ice”; that is Piscifun’s claim, and it makes no Coast Guard claim. The listing adds polyester thermal insulation (grams not published), fully taped seams, an interior mesh hem to drain water, a safety whistle, reflective strips and seven pockets. The title calls it “Waterproof”, but a bullet says it is “water resistant due to DWR Coated Polyester and fully taped & sealed seams”, with no rating. Piscifun’s list price was not published in what we could read.

In an r/IceFishing thread on Piscifun, one owner said a friend’s suit had held up for two full seasons and was “just as warm as the eskimo stuff the rest of us wear”; another said “Some stitching on pocket ripped the first year.” Those owners do not name the exact model. Piscifun’s matching float bibs are sold separately. On Amazon it is sold by WILDPULSE, a seller we could not confirm as the brand.

Specs (linked: men’s Large, Black & Grey)

                Pros

                • Float jacket with a safety whistle and drain-mesh hem at an entry-level price
                • Seven pockets and reflective strips
                • Owners in one thread report two seasons of use from Piscifun suits (model not stated)

                Cons

                • No waterproof rating, and the listing contradicts itself on waterproofing
                • Insulation grams not published
                • Bibs sold separately; one owner reported pocket stitching failing in year one

$379.99 from AmazonAs of Nov 4, 09:41 UTC

                Verdict

A women’s-cut float jacket with 133g PrimaLoft Silver, for women who fish outside in the cold and want a tailored fit.

Evidence: No independent test; owner reports. r/IceFishing: Stella, piece not stated.

Striker’s Stella page describes a 320D nylon tussor shell with Hydrapore waterproofing rated 5,000 mm and 5,000 g breathability, 133g PrimaLoft Silver insulation with Striker’s Heat Map lining, Sureflote flotation assistance, princess seams “for Modern Slimming Silhouette” and pre-curved elbows. Striker’s Amazon listing says Sureflote “can keep an average person afloat for up to 2 hours”; that is Striker’s claim, and Striker makes no Coast Guard claim. Striker lists it at $379.99 for sizes XS to XL (its own site showed it on sale when we checked).

Striker’s Amazon title calls it “Water-Resistant”, while its site lists it as waterproof at 5,000 mm. In an r/IceFishing thread for women anglers, one owner wrote, “Striker Stella is what I use. I love them.” The matching Women’s Stella Bib is sold separately. On Amazon the jacket is sold by Frank’s Great Outdoors.

                Specs (linked: women’s Medium, Burgundy)

                  Pros

                  • Women’s cut with princess seams over 133g PrimaLoft Silver and flotation assist
                  • Line Cutterz zipper pull, hemostat attachment points and an inner phone pocket
                  • Cross-flow venting, per Striker

                  Cons

                  • Mid-range price for a jacket, with the bib a separate purchase
                  • No independent test; owner praise only
                  • Amazon’s title and Striker’s site describe the waterproofing differently

Women who hole-hop and want a light float jacket to wear over their own warm layers.

$128.30 from AmazonAs of Nov 4, 09:41 UTC

                  Verdict

A light, bomber-cut women’s float jacket with 60g insulation, for women who move around the ice and layer underneath.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, previous generation. Outdoor Life: men’s Scout jacket and pants (2023).

Eskimo’s Women’s Scout Jacket page describes “a light and nimble outer layer that cuts out the excess bulk”, with a DuraDry waterproof shell, “Uplyft Breathable Flotation assistance” and 60gm of insulation. Eskimo’s Amazon listing adds a 5k/5k waterproof/breathable rating, fully taped seams, sleeve gussets and a neoprene hybrid waist. Eskimo makes no Coast Guard claim. Eskimo lists it at $179.99 (its own site showed it on sale when we checked).

Outdoor Life tested the men’s Scout jacket and pants in 2023. The tester said, “I really like the Scout jacket,” but found the pants “aren’t overly warm” at 25 degrees with a 15 mph wind. That is the men’s version and an earlier year, so read it as a guide to the Scout line. With 60g of insulation, plan on a warm mid-layer for deep cold. The matching Women’s Scout Pants, also with Uplyft flotation, are sold separately. This jacket is sold and shipped by Amazon.com.

Specs (linked: women’s Medium, Frost, model 39439)

                    Pros

                    • Light women’s float jacket with a 5k/5k shell at an entry-level price
                    • Bomber cut with sleeve gussets for moving and drilling
                    • Matching women’s pants with flotation

                    Cons

                    • 60g of insulation needs layering on very cold days
                    • The independent test covered the men’s Scout, not this jacket
                    • Few sizes in stock on Amazon at our check

                    Verdict

Women’s float bibs with 170g insulation and an 8,000 mm shell, for women who sit or kneel outside in deep cold.

Evidence: No independent test; maker specs.

Norfin’s Women Nordic FLT Bib page lists a stretch Nortex Breathable shell rated 8,000 mm waterproof and 4,000 g breathable, 170g Hollofil insulation plus FLT foam, snow gaiters, a chest pocket, reflective elements and glued seams. Norfin calls the foam “flotation assistance” and makes no Coast Guard claim, and it says the Hollofil “will keep you warm in temps as low as -15°F”, a maker guideline with no method named. Norfin’s Amazon listing says the bibs are “specifically designed for women anglers”. Norfin lists them at $249.99 (its own site showed them on sale when we checked).

We found no independent test of these bibs. The matching Women Nordic FLT Parka is sold separately and is not linked here. On Amazon the bibs are sold by Delaney’s Outdoors, and stock was limited when we checked.

                      Reading a Float Suit’s Specs

Flotation assist is not a life jacket

Striker, Eskimo and Norfin call their flotation “assist”; Nordic Legend says its Motion Float “adds buoyancy”; WindRider and Piscifun describe flotation that keeps you afloat, in their own words. WindRider and Nordic Legend say outright that theirs is not a Coast Guard approved PFD, and none of the others claims approval. Outdoor Life’s 2023 guide puts it this way: “As far as I know, none of the ice jackets or bibs on the market are USCG-certified as a personal flotation device.” A float suit may buy time in the water, by the makers’ accounts, but how long and how well depends on your weight, layers and the conditions, so treat every “afloat for up to 2 hours” line as the maker’s claim and keep ice picks and a rope within reach.

                      Waterproof numbers

The published figures run from 5,000 mm to 15k, and none of the makers names its test standard, so compare them with care. Breathability (in g/m²/24 h) is about sweat on the walk out: Striker, for example, rates its 5,000 g figure “suitable for limited to moderate movement”. Taped or glued seams matter as much as the fabric.

                      Insulation grams and layering

Published insulation runs from 60g (the Striker Climate liner and the Eskimo Scout) to 180g (Norfin Element Plus), and four picks do not publish grams. Jackets with a zip-out liner (Striker Climate, Eskimo Superior) let you match the layer to the day. For long sits outside, pair a suit with warm base layers; our guides to cold weather hiking pants and women’s merino wool socks cover the layers underneath.

                      Fit, sizes and bathroom access

Striker says the Climate is sized to go over a hoody and bibs; WindRider’s bibs have an adjustable inseam; Norfin’s women’s bibs stop at XL. Women anglers in the r/IceFishing threads we read put bathroom access high on the list, so check for a drop seat, a long zip or half-bib design on the bibs you pair with any jacket here.

                      Frequently Asked Questions

                      Q. What is the best flotation suit for ice fishing?

It depends on when and how you fish. Outdoor Life named an earlier Striker Climate jacket and bib its “Best Overall Flotation” pick in 2023, and SI.com’s 2025 review of the current Climate suit praised how it blocks wind. For a complete suit in one order, the Norfin Element Plus FLT and WindRider suits include jacket and bibs.

                      Q. Do ice fishing float suits work?

Two makers put a figure on it: Striker says Sureflote “can keep an average person afloat for up to 2 hours”, and WindRider says its suit has enough flotation for “a 300lb person on the surface for up to 2 hours”. None of these makers calls its suit a Coast Guard approved PFD, and WindRider and Nordic Legend say theirs is not. A float suit is a backup, not a guarantee; the safest plan is to stay off ice you are unsure of.

                      Q. Are float suits Coast Guard approved?

Not the ones in this guide. WindRider and Nordic Legend state that theirs are not Coast Guard approved PFDs, and Striker, Eskimo, Norfin and Piscifun do not claim approval on the pages we read.

                      Q. What is the warmest ice fishing suit?

We do not rank warmth, because makers measure insulation differently and most of the makers here print no temperature rating. Of the picks here, the Norfin Element Plus FLT lists 180g of insulation and a maker guideline of -20°F (site) or -30°F (Amazon listing). For deep cold, pick a suit with a liner or room for a mid-layer.

                      Q. What are the best clothing brands for ice fishing?

Striker and Eskimo come up again and again in the r/IceFishing threads we read, with Norfin, Clam’s Ice Armor, WindRider and Piscifun also mentioned. Every brand in this guide makes float suits in men’s sizes, and Striker, Eskimo and Norfin make women’s float pieces. For the rest of your kit, see our ice fishing rods guide and, for an insulated coat for the drive and town, our women’s winter coats guide.

                      The bottom line

                      Final Verdict

For one float jacket across the whole ice season, the Striker Climate 3-in-1 Jacket (check price) pairs a waterproof Sureflote shell with a zip-out PrimaLoft liner, and SI.com’s tester found it blocked the wind for a month on the ice. For a complete suit in one order, the Norfin Element Plus FLT Suit (check price) brings jacket and bibs with 180g insulation, and the WindRider Ice Fishing Suit (check price) spells out its flotation figure and warranty. The Eskimo Superior Jacket (check price) suits wet slush with its 15k/15k shell, and the Eskimo Roughneck Bibs (check price) suit anglers who kneel all day.

On a tighter budget, the Piscifun Floating Ice Fishing Jacket (check price) adds flotation at the entry-level tier, and the Nordic Legend Aurora Floating Suit (check price) gives you jacket and bibs with flotation at the mid-range tier, both with thinner published specs. For women, the Striker Women’s Stella Jacket (check price) offers a fitted insulated float jacket, the Eskimo Women’s Scout Jacket (check price) a light entry-level one, and the Norfin Women’s Nordic FLT Bibs (check price) warm float bibs for deep cold.
